CUD (Weihai) Shipyard Co., LTD. was put into operation in 2010. The company's business scope includes shipbuilding, repair and modification. The company is located at the golden waterway of the north-south shipping line in China, the eastern end of the Jiaodong Peninsula (latitude and longitude N: 36°50'20'' E: 122°16'00''), across the sea from Japan and South Korea. Here, it is backed by mountains and faces the sea, with a mild climate and an average annual temperature of 12 degrees. Transportation is convenient, 38 kilometers away from Weihai International Airport and 270 kilometers away from Qingdao International Airport.
The company is a national first-class open port (ice-free port), covering an area of 440,000 square meters. It has one 300,000-ton (355m × 78m × 14m) dry dock and one 200,000-ton (325m × 54m × 13m) dry dock, two 25,000-ton slipways and one 10,000-ton slipway. The ship outfitting wharf is 3,000 meters long, with a maximum draft of 9.5 meters. Production workshops, workboats, gantry cranes (40-80 tons), and other equipment and facilities are complete. The fixed asset investment is 1.4 billion yuan, with the capacity to repair and modify various ships of 300,000 tons and below (mainly bulk carriers, container ships, tankers, ro-ro ships, and chemical tankers), with an annual repair and modification capacity of more than 240 ships.
The company has more than 450 employees, including more than 150 engineering and technical and management personnel, more than 30 personnel with intermediate and senior professional technical titles, and more than 1,500 outsourced construction personnel. It has passed ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certification, ISO 14000:2015 environmental management system certification, and ISO 45001:2018 occupational health and safety management system certification.
